Scioto Audubon Metro Park
This wildlife oasis occupies the Whittier Peninsula, which for most of Columbus’ history was an industrial area dominated by factories, warehouses and railroad yards. Opening in 2009 after meticulous restoration, the park features wetlands, boat launches and one of the nation’s largest outdoor climbing walls. It is also home to the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, a stopover for thousands of birds that migrate north from Central and South America.
